JIM MORRIS - Metro News Edmonton - August 6th 2009
VANCOUVER, B.C. - She has competed at three Winter Olympics but that doesn't mean Tania Vicent doesn't feel nervous as she tries to qualify for the short-track speedskating team going to the 2010 Games.
"They are always very nerve-racking," Vicent said Thursday as she prepared for the Olympic selection trials which begin this weekend. "We're such a tight team everybody has a chance to make it. "There is a lot of depth in the girls. It is going to be hard to make it. You are always nervous. If you're not nervous, it's time to get out of there."
"I think this is an advantage to be able to stay focused during the 10 days, to deal with good or bad days," he said. "I think that experience will be a big part of the capacity to make the team."

By Jessica Gregg - August 5, 2009
The countdown is almost over.
On Thursday we're flying to Vancouver where the short track Olympic trials are taking place. We start racing on Aug. 9 and go through Aug. 18.
[...] A favourite question of a lot of people is, “What are you going to do if you don’t make the team? Or if you do?” Right now my answer is, I will cross that bridge when I get to it. All I can do is go out there and give everything I have in every race, and if that happens I'll have to be happy with whatever the outcome. Obviously it will be a dream come true if I'm able to be a part of the team, but life goes on either way.

Joanne Ireland, Edmonton Journal - August 2
One after another after yet another, the Greggs zip up their skinsuits, lace up their speedskates, and head to the start line--and not just any start line, either.
Jamie, Jessica and Sarah Gregg are all poised to compete in the Canadian Olympic trials. Jessica will race in Vancouver's Pacific Coliseum, Aug. 9-18. Brother Jamie and sister Sarah will be vying for a spot on the 2010 Winter Games team during the long-track trials, Dec. 27-Jan. 2 in Richmond, B. C.
[...] their parents, Randy and Kathy, met at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, N. Y. Kathy Vojt was a speedskater, Randy a member of Canada's hockey team.

"I want to say thank you -- it is a big honour for me to get this prize," said Roberge,21. "I didn't get nominated back home in Quebec (for provincial honours) but I was nominated here so it's really special."Swimmer Hayden and speedskater Roberge win Canadian Sport Awards
"It's still a dream," said Roberge, adding that her next big target is the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. "That is really my objective. It's been a dream of mine since I was very young."
«Pour moi, être un bon entraîneur, ce n’est pas tant au niveau des résultats que ça se voit, mais plutôt dans la capacité de faire progresser les athlètes et c’est encore plus vrai à l’international, où la marge d’amélioration est minime en raison du haut niveau de compétition», a commenté Martin Gagné, entraîneur de l'équipe nationale courte piste
